Poetic Justice Concert
Join us at The Church of the Epiphany in Washington, DC for an afternoon of music, poetry, and community discussion. This event is about coming together to celebrate artistic expression and creativity. Project Poetic Justice is a new initiative at the DC Jail, harnessing the talent and passion of young men between the ages of 18-24 currently experiencing incarceration.
Please consider contributing to this project via this campaign. All money will go toward paying artists and covering the cost of the performance venue.
This event will feature original poems written by the participants, as well as new musical compositions centered around their poetry. The program will close with a short panel discussion on the role of arts education in carceral settings.
Panelists for this event include: Dr. Amy K. Lopez, Collie Levar Long, Koumba Yasin, and Aram Sinnreich.

SEEDS is a site-specific multimedia performance merging live music, improvised dance, and collaborative painting. As dancers move to musical “seeds,” their painted gestures generate evolving graphic scores for the musicians—creating a continuous loop of inspiration and response.

MYBSTMM, that was composed based on Sophia Sorrentino’s first grade letter will be performed as a part of Voices Unheard: a student curated concert on March 5, 2025 at 12:30PM in Hilda and Douglas Goodwin recital hall. It is a concert that features compositions by female, BIPOC, queer or anyone who are marginalized throughout the history.
